On Thursday, May 30th, the men of Allensworth stood side-by-side
with firefighters from the Tulare County Fire Department, the Kern
County Fire Department and the North Kern Prison. Tulare County Fire
Battalion Chief Mike Green told the Visalia Times-Delta they found seven
structures burning when they arrived.
The grass fire started about 2 p.m., at the intersection of Avenue 32 and Road 84, and moved south on Road 84. It took firefighters two and a half hours to contain the fire, several more hours to extinguish the fire, and all evening to put out hot spots.
"Everything was totally consumed by the fire," Battalion Chief
Green told the Visalia Times-Delta. "There are three houses [burned]
down to the foundations." The fire also destroyed a mobile home, three
travel trailers, three outbuildings and three vehicles.
