The State Parks and Wildlife Conservation Trust Fund Act of 2010 is now Proposition 21.
Major newspapers throughout California have written editorials supporting Proposition 21.
The San Luis Obispo Tribune:
“State parks are far too important to our economy, our health and our quality of life to continually be at the mercy of the ups and downs of the economy or the whims of politicians.”
“Proposition 21 is the most expeditious and practical way to generate the revenue we need to repair our endangered parks, beaches and historic landmarks.”
The Sacramento Bee:
“The parks have more than $100 million worth of maintenance needs each year. But shrinking budgets mean that only a portion of the work gets done. Projects get delayed and accumulate. Today, the state parks system has a maintenance backlog of $1.3 billion.”
KNBC-TV Los Angeles highlighted the poor maintenance conditions in Southern California State Parks in a two-part report.
